Torrefied Red Spruce Guitar – Grade B

Thermally modified (aka “Torrefied”) Red “Adirondack” Spruce (Picea rubens) guitar top. Grade B – these are graded low because of uneven, dark streaking. Otherwise nice tops. The dark streaks will not disappear by sanding. These are “lightly roasted” tops. Enough temperature was used to provide all the advantages of Thermal Modification, but without the brittleness associated with higher temperatures. We harvest this wood in our local Allegheny Mountains where it is found at elevations generally at least 4000 feet msl (1200 m.).
