“Eastern”red maple for carved top electric guitar. This is THE top wood used in the ’59 Les Paul guitars. All the wood for our carved maple tops we cut from logs we obtain locally in the Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia and Virginia. This piece is red maple (Acer rubrum). This top is not joined, however the joint-edge is flat as is one face of each piece. Faces are parallel – like a board. Heartwood shown will carve away – please see additional photos showing reverse face. Item: LP9314
