Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia) is one of the hardest woods in North America. The stiffness (like glass!) feel and taptone are very similar to that of Osage orange. Locust turns a nice brown with oxidation. I’d say this is our local Rosewood! It is not common to find a black locust large enough for guitar backs and yet without interior defects. These sets do not come along very often so you may want to consider picking up a set to try out.
